Formed in Cotonou, Benin, back in 1994, the Gangbé Brass Band blends local Vodou music with Afrobeat, jazz, and New Orleans brass. Their name means "sound of brass" in the Fon language. The band combines traditional bells and talking drums with bright, powerful horns and group vocals. They sing in Fon, Yoruba, and French. Over the years, they have toured the world and played alongside stars like Femi Kuti and Angélique Kidjo. Their songs focus on African culture, unity, and life back home.
